Aretê Corporation (North America & Europe)

Arete Corporation is a principal investment firm specializing in venture capital investments. It seeks to invest in electric and gas utility industries. The firm invests through Micro-Generation Technology Fund and Utech Funds. Arete Corporation was founded in 1985 and is headquartered in Center Harbor, New Hampshire. The company stated its investments are in the “micro-generation” areas, and it has recently launched a new SC Green Tech Ventures Fund. The types of investments it considers all relates to renewable energy and greentech sectors, some examples include:

Capstone Turbine Corporation, a US wind turbine innovator and manufacturer, Northern Power Systems, which constructs and installs small scale wind and hybrid power systems for use in a variety of distributed power applications in North America, also UK based ACAL has developed a redox cathode technology for PEM fuel cells which eliminates the need for Pt catalysts; this is one of its first investments outside North America.

Burrill & Company(Americas, Europe & Asia)

Burrill & Company invests in life science companies whose technologies and products are applicable across a wide range of life science sub-sectors: human healthcare therapeutics and diagnostics/devices; health/wellness; agricultural biotechnology; biofuels, and industrial biotechnology (biomaterials/bioprocesses). Biofuel is one of its key focus sectors, which also include other sustainable agriculture and renewable energy opportunities.

Its biofuel investments include opportunities in North America, Middle East, Europe and Asia, some examples include:  Cobalt Biofuels, who is developing novel technologies for the production of Biofuels, HCL CleanTech, an Israeli company specializes in biofuel productions.

RIG Investments (Europe)

RIG Investments is a privately owned venture capital company based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

RIG is managed by an experienced investment team, headed by its founder and CEO Henk Keilman, since its inception, the company has been expanding its investments in technology, new media, and lately, the company has expanded into green sectors actively, and is now investing in these sectors.
