3. Geologists: This is not a surprise, and continues to be in high demand from oil & gas companies worldwide
4. Safety / Occupational Health professionals – maybe this was caused because of the recent oil spill crisis; there seems to be increasing demand for training and occupational health professionals
5. Investor relations professionals – many oil & gas companies are listed companies, there has been a heightened interest in investor relations; one reason is that oil & gas companies do need to raise capital constantly for their operations; and investor relations is regarded as an important part of the overall financing strategy.
6. Financial specialists, especially those with strong financial modelling skills to create financial viability assessments on companies’ assets.

Where to find good opportunities in the oil & gas sectors? Jobs are still widely available especially in North America in these sectors, and some parts of Europe and Asia.

One way to find good job prospects is to contact the companies directly, and if you are a recruitment professional, you can also find potential business opportunities from mid-tier oil & gas companies; there are also increasing number of international oil & gas companies setting up overseas operations as well.

The oil & gas industries also has a relatively higher dependency on consultants, it is very common to see a consultant working several for oil & gas companies, this is especially common for junior to mid-tier oil & gas companies
